- Film: “Frida”
- Director: Julie Taymor
- Author: Clancy Sigal, Diane Lake, Gregory Nava, Anna Thomas.
- Genre: Drama
- Cast: Salma Hayek (Frida Kahlo), Alfred Molina (Diego Rivera), Geoffrey Rush (León Trotsky), Mía Maestro (Cristina Kahlo)

- Review:

“Frida” tells the story of the most talented artist of all times: Frida Kahlo. Interestingly, the film is set in 1922. Therefore, it covers thirty-two years of Kahlo's life from age 15 to her death at age 47. As might have been expected, it provides viewers with an appropriate representation of the most important turning-points in the artist’s life. As a matter of fact, at first, the film shows clearly the dangerous accident, which she suffers at the age of eighteen. As a consequence, Frida (Salma Hayek) is seriously injured, as a metal handrail pierces her body. In the following years, she undergoes thirty-two major operations and suffers enormous pain for the rest of her life. Fortunately, she derives great pleasure for painting, as it serves two useful purposes: that of allowing her to give vent to her imagination and that of helping her to express her feelings. Moreover, Frida gets married with Diego Rivera (Alfred Molina), a famous muralist. They have a stormy relationship. Actually, Rivera is often unfaithful and even has an affair with Cristina (Mía Maestro), Frida’s younger sister. However, Frida also has extramarital affairs, including one with Leon Trotsky (Geoffrey Rush), the Russian Leader. To add insult to injury, Frida is never able to have children, aspect which devastates her. In a word, her life is a complete mixture of sadness and extreme pain, which allows Frida to develop that special flair for painting.
In general, I believe wholeheartedly that the film in question is profoundly moving, as well as gripping. Furthermore, both actors and actresses offer viewers particularly memorable performances, since it is clear how they get actively involved in Frida’s biography. However, if I had to choose one performance, I would definitely select Salma Hayek’s, which is regarded as outstanding. Last but not least, I would like to point out the sophisticated and realistic make-up and costume-designing, the appropriate representation of Mexican customs and traditions and the importance of Frida’s most famous paintings, such as “Frida and Diego Rivera” (1931) and “Roots” (1943).
On the whole, I believe firmly that “Frida” is a remarkable movie, with an absolutely touching plot, where TRANSGRESSION, TALENT, SEDUCTION and PAIN play a crucial role. In fact, "The real Frida Kahlo" set an example in life and taught all her fans that it is possible to keep on trying against all odds.

Aladdin !

Book/ Film: Aladdin
Genre: Animation
Author/ Director:John Musker y Ron Clements
Characters/ Actors: Aladin. Abu. Genio. Jasmine. Sultan. Jafar

Aladdin is a young and poor boy who with his inseparable mono Abú dedicates to steal and cheat on people in the city of Agrabah to survive and have the dream of someday being an important person. Aladdin is often chased by all the guards of the castle and the security officers so that they can imprisioner him, but they never can.
In spite of Aladdin’s defects, he is a really good boy. He always tries to help poor and needy people. In the movie, Aladdin falls in love of the princess Jasmine, a lovely girl who is Sultan’s daughter. When he meets her, they don’t now who they really are, but they realised they have one thing in common: The feeling of being prisioners in their own lifes.

Later, he finds out that she is the princess of Agrabah when Aladdin is caught by the security guards, and Jasmine, using her royalty power, lets him go. After this inconvenient, Jasmine comes back to the castle and finds herself in the obligation to choose a prince who will be her husband. At the sime time, Aladdin is prisioner in Sultan’s castle, where an old man shows up and promises him to be the richiest man in the world if he gets out of that place and goes to the cave of the marvel. In this awesome place, there is a lamp which has inside the grand genious, who has the power of making real three wishes.
Aladdin, once he finds the lamp, decides to give to the genious one of the three wishes: The freedom of him. The other two are the change of Aladdin into a chaming prince so that he could win Jasmine’s heart, and the posibility of escaping from prision.
As a prince, Aladdin goes to the castle and there, Jasmine finally recognise him. But the problem starts when Jafar, who wants to marry her and takes all the money, finds out that Aladdin is going to take de power of his hands, and a big fight happens. Finally the genious ends up being free, and Jafar inside of the lamp forever and ever.

Finally, Aladdin and Jazmine get married, and live happily ever after in the castle. My opinion about the movie is that is one of the best that Disney has ever made. Is a beautiful and entretaining film, which has all that has to be included to make people interested in it. My fauvorite character is without any doubt Aladdin, who is the cutest prince and I would definitely love to have a boy like that, kind and brave.

Book/ Film: Pocahontas
Genre: Animation/Drama
Author/ Director: Tom Ropelewski
Characters/ Actors: Pocahontas, John Smith.

This awesome movie tells the story of an indigenous called pocahontas, a young and beautiful girl who along the movie has to make a decision between listening to her heart or following the right thing to do.

One day, a group of british colonists shows up and tries to take control of the land and of the people living there. One of the most important member of this group previously mentioned is Captain Smith. A charming man who meet Pocahontas, and little by little they fall in love.

The main problem of the film, is that both Pocahontas and John Smith belong to a different culture that are in a constant fight for the possesion of the land, so they are not supposed to talk or to feel anything for each other .

As a result of the lack of answers, Pocahontas tries desperately to find a solution in her willow grandmother, an important character of the film who helps her to find the peace between the conquerors and the tribe. Another important support that she has is her friendly racoon Miko, who will be her companion all along the movie.

In my opinion, Pocahontas is one of my favorite character of Disney, although she is not the ordinary princess which is common to see. I think she leaves a clear moral: Love is stronger than all the obstacles. Besides, I strongly think that Pocahontas and Captain Smith are meant to be together, they are the most beautiful couple I have ever seen.

My mom's new boyfriend

Book/ Film: My mom's new boyfriend
Genre: Comedy/Romance
Author/ Director: George Gallo
Characters/ Actors: Antonio Banderas as Tommy, Meg Ryan as Marty, Collin Hanks as Henry, Selma Blair as Emily.

I chose this film because I really enjoyed it. It tells the story of a man named Henry who lives with his widowed, ugly and fat mother, Marty, and works for the FBI. After a journey of three years for a very secret investigation, he goes back to his house and finds out something incredible: his mother had been going on a diet and she was trully thin and very attractive! They inmediately started talking about their lives and Henry told her that he was engaged with a lovely woman who worked with him called Emily, who was arriving at the house some hours later. Marty took the most of the moment, and told him that she had been going on some dates, not only one, but lots at the same time! From that moment, the story turns so funny because it's all about meeting Marty's dates, but the real story begins when she knows a man named Tommy and falls in love with him. But the problem turns up when Henry discovers that the man is suspected of leading a gang of art thieves, and he is forced to spy her mother even in the most awkward situations.

In my opinion, this film is really nice and is so appropriated for the whole family, and I have to say that I had a great time when I saw it. I think the characters did a great job and so did the director.

The Reader

Film: "The Reader"
Genre: Drama, Romance
Director: Stephen Daldry
Actors: David Kross, Kate Winslet and Ralph Finnes

“The Reader” starts when teenager Michael Berg becomes ill and is helped by Hanna Schmitz, a stranger who twice his age. When Michael recovers from the illness he decided to go to Hanna’s apartment to thanks her. The two quickly fall into a passionate and secretive affair which is a short step from pedophilia. Apart from the sex they create a reader-listener relationship when Michael discovers that Hanna loves being read to (origin of the movie’s name) and Hanna is surprised as how Michael reads to her. Despite their intense relationship, Hanna mysteriously disappears one day and Michael is left confused and heartbroken.
Eight years later, while Michael is a law student, he is astonished to find Hanna back in his life but this time as a defendant in the courtroom. As Hanna's past is revealed, Michael uncovers a deep secret that will save her from being unfairly accused.

As we are accustomed, the performance of Kate Winslet is exactly what the film needs.
What is really remarkable is David Kross acting. He incredibly impressed me with his catching personality and his ability to register multiple emotions and thoughts which are complicated, especially during the trial scenes. He is, without a doubt my favorite character.

In my view “The reader” is a haunting story about truth and reconciliation, which offer a different love story as the ones that we are accustomed to watch.

Film: Troy
Wolfgagn Petersen

Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom, Peter O'Toole

In this film, the director seeks to represents one of the most important historical facts of history: the Trojan War. This is accomplished with great scenery, in which we must mention a very good location, which leads us to the place where this great war development.

We must also mention the musicalizacion, which is used in key moments of the film, airing what happened in that scene

The main role is that of Brad Pitt who plays Aquiles, Greek soldier. This, in my opinion is one of the best performances by Brad Pitt, as it shows great maturity as a player very well and passes all the emotions of his character throughout the movie. We must also mention the very good performances by Eric Bana and Orlando Bloom Who interprets the principles of Tory and sons of King Priamo. In my opinion is a very good movie and is one of the best films I saw

Brigada Explosiva

Genre: comedia
Author/ Director: Rodolfo Ledo
Characters/ Actors: Gino Renni, Emilio Disi, Luciana Salazar, Jorge Rodrigo Barrios, Toti Ciliberto, Marcos Gómez

Review: Brigada Explosiva, is a movie whose productors tended to continue their habitual lines, it have a bad filmation stile and a worse direction. Basically, it’s a very bad cinematograph product.
But they have changed some things than “Bañeros”, their last movie before “Brigada Explosiva”, in this new movie they have put more serious characters and more likely to the teenager public.
This is a movie with a poor laboration because of the bad usefull of the elements, for example, in one of the scenes, the cameraman don’t have fine pulse, so they didn’t use a support for the camera.
The celphones that they use in this movie are made of plastic, that gives to the movie a very bad image of him.
But, in another way, the characters are more pleasant and make more funny scenes and nicer things.
Personally, I think that this movie was a money waste.
