Wimbledon

- Film: “Wimbledon”
- Director: Richard Loncraine
- Author: Adam Brooks, Jennifer Flackett
- Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance
- Cast: Kristen Dunst, Paul Bettany

-Review:

Wimbledon is one of the best films that I’ve seen and it took a very important place, just at the top of my personal rankking for several reasons. First of all, it has a special “something” on it, maybe that’s because of my passion about tennis. Moreover, Wimbledon is my favorite Grand Slam and this story shows to the public other point of view about the life of the athletes during the tournament.
Furthermore, the main plot is about Peter & Lizzie’s love story. Peter was an ex – pro tennis player that has lost all his confidence and recieved an special invitation to participate on Wimbledon, there he met Lizzie, a young top ten player that was over the wave of sucess. After many problems (that I won’t was out), Lizzie gave Peter his confidence back and finally he won the tournament.
The actors interpretation was quite good, they could manage to mix romance, passion, drama and a little comedy in the film. Both of them are known from blockbuster films, such as “Spiderman” in Kristen case, or “The Da Vinci Code” in Pauls.
My personal average of the film is obviously good, based on the facts that I’ve said at the begginig of this essay.

Jumper

Film: Jumper.
Genre: Action / Adventure /Sci-Fi/ Thriller.
Director: Doug Liman.
Actors: Hayden Christensen, Jamie Bell, Rachel Bilson, Diane Lane, Samuel L. Jackson.

Review:
“Jumper” is a film made by 20th Century Fox, from the novel of the same name written by Steven Gould, we can insert it in the genre of Scy- Fi. First of all, I can say that this film has a high quality of special effects that impress the audience in every escene, the soundtracks as well are adequate to it, and combined create an excellent climax in some tension parts the film presents. Another point that is very important to light up it’s the fact that the story by itself it’s more complex than the one that was shown in the big screen, obviously, we have to read the book to develop that, even though, I thought it was important to remark that point.Nevertheless, there’s a rumour speared that maybe, Jumper it’s the first film of a trilogy that will come on the following months. From my point of view, and concluding this review, I have to say that Jumper had captured my attention on the cinema, but finding information about other merchandise (such as Playstation 2 games), it’s not a good product, and was made just to be another popcorn film, as many others that I’ve seen before.

Pride and Prejudice

Book: Pride & Prejudice
Genre: Novel of manners
Author: Jane Austen
Characters: Elizabeth Bennet, Mr. Bingley, Fitzwilliam Darcy, Mr. Wickham, Mr. Bennet, Mrs. Bennet, Jane Bennet, Mary Bennet, Catherine (Kitty) Bennet, Lydia Bennet, Mr. William Collins.

Review:
“Pride & Prejudice” is a novel by the Eglish author Jane Austen first published on 28 January 1813. First of all, we can analyze some important themes, that are universal ideas explored in the novel, such as love, sexual tension, marrige, pride, prejudice and reputation. Anothers interestings items are the motifs that we found reading the book, for example, a motiff that is use to develop the themes is a ball, some meetings in Bingley’s mansion, the large journeys that the characters do, because they are all the time travelling around England or Money, that it’s has big importance in the hole story. Equally important is the plot summary. The story is about about five sisters: Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty and Lydia Bennet, wich mother, Mrs. Bennet is desperate to see them married. Their lives are turned upside down when a wealthy young man called Mr. Bingley and his best friend Mr. Darcy arrive to their town. Unfortunately for the Bennets, if Mr Bennet dies their house will be inherited by a distant cousin whom they have never met called Mr. Collins, so the family's future happiness and security is dependant on the daughters making good marriages. Jane falls in love with Mr. Bingley and Lizzie refuses her love to Mr. Darcy, because she considers that he is a proud man. At the end, Lizzy accepts her love to Darcy and he proposes marrige to her, I believe that you can imagine what happends next. In conclution, I hardly recommend Pride & Prejudice book to those readers that look for something passional and entretaining, a classic of literature that had left it mark on me.
