The Cutting Edge 2: Going for the gold

Book/ Film: "The Cutting Edge 2: Going for the gold"
Genre: Romantic comedy
Author/ Director: Sean McNamara
Characters/ Actors:Ross Thomas and Christy Carlson Romano.

Review:
“ The Cutting Edge 2: going for the gold” is a romantic comedy film which is starred by Ross Thomas and Christy Carlson Romano. It was filmed in the USA in 2006 and directed by Sean McNamara. The film lasts 98 minutes and it should be watched by people over thirteen years-old.

“The Cutting Edge 2” tells a story about Jackie Dorsey (Christy Romano) who is competing to win the Olympic gold in ice-skating but, in her performance, she falls and brakes her leg. She is so depressed because she is only thinking about winning that prize, so her father invites her to go on holidays. There, Jackie meets Alex (Ross Thomas), a good-looking surfer guy, who helps her to return to the competition. However, everything is not so easy. Although they fall in love with each other, an ex Alex’s girlfriend appears.

Ross and Christy had to learn to skate professionally before filming the film because they only had stuntmen in very difficult tricks. Much of the time in the film they are skating, for example, when they are preparing their performance for the regional competition, in the Olympic competition, and so on.

The costume design in Cutting Edge 2 emphasizes Jackie and Alex characters in daily life and it’s different and special in every performance they do, it really helps you to know the personality of the characters.

I think it’s a great option if you want to watch something different and original mixed with an amazing sport like ice-skating is. I recommend this film because it is not static like others films, in stead of this, it has a lot of changes throughout the film which makes you want to continue watching it.

THE GREEN MILE

-Book/ Film: The Green Mile
-Genre:Drama film
- Author/ Director: Frank Darabont
-Characters/ Actors:Tom Hanks, David Morse, Bonnie Hunt, Michael Clarke Duncan, Harry Dean Stanton and James Cromwell
-Review:

The Green Mile is a american drama film directed by Frank Darabont and adapted by him from the 1996 Stephen King novel of the same name. The film is told in a flashback format and stars Tom Hanks as Paul Edgecomb and Michael Clarke Duncan as John Coffey, and tells the story of Paul and his life as a death row corrections officer during the Great Depression in the United States. This movie was filmed in Louisiana, United States.

The plot of this movie, Paul Edgecomb worked in was called the "Green Mile" by the guards, because the condemned prisoners walking to their execution are said to be walking "the last mile" to the electric chair. One prisoner call, John Coffey, he is a farmer, gian and blackmen; he stay here because, he killing two young white girls. He demostrates that he is not a killer, opposite john, fearing darkness, and crying almost constantly for apparently no reason. One day, John reveals extraordinary powers by healing Paul urinary tract infection and resurrecting a mouse. The wife's of the boss of Paul has a problem cereveral, John with his powers try to cure her.

In my opinion the acting of Tom Hanks was exceptional, and Michael Clarke Duncan was exeptional, but background music was dispointing. And the direction played was a principal role in this movie.

One a scene, when John electrocuted in the chair was very exciting, but has very bad special effects and the music was not appropriate for that time.Other scene is when the mouse, called Mr. bells dies, is saddest scene that I've ever seen from this movie.

A film is infused with an expansive, and transmits a sadness and sorrow , sometimes I have the impression that John is going to died in few minutes.
If you want to watch a movie to cry this is indicated...

The directors try to focus us, in the principal message of the movie, that with simple effects its shows very clearly, just a great work by the producer using simple objects to make fun until we almost cry. The cast was a right reason to watch it, and changes of emotions in every second of the movie

The place, like every other movie its just simple, not too much production, with the city like place the story develops in a normal environment and the society of today. The costumes are not something important in this film, just the normal stuff and clothes that we use every day.

“Crazy, stupid, love” is a film to watch and learn with all the family, that with a pinch of humor, we learn how to affront every day in our life. Very recommend por all can of people, no matter sex or age

Meet Joe Black.

Book/ Film: 'Meet Joe Black'.

Genre: Drama/Romantic/Fantasy.

Author/ Director: Martin Brest.

Characters/ Actors: Bard Pitt, Anthony Hopkin, Claire Forlani.

Review:
‘Meet Joe Black’ is a film about the death, showing it as something good, and as a process of life. Is a deep movie and treats emotions and feelings from a really different point of view. It’s a delicated film, and the story is about Bill, and old man about to die, who owns a billionaire company, so the death itself takes the body of Joe, a lovely man, to have some vacations. So Joe appears mysteriously as a friend of Bill, who keeps quiet the secret. But in the meanwhile, Joe fell in love with Susan, Bill’s daughter, and vice versa. And that’s how a romantic and passionate story starts.

Brad Pitt (Joe), Anthony Hopkins (Bill) and Claire Forlani (Susan) are the main characters. They are high quality actors, and make the movie have an incredible touch of sensibility and finesse.

The story and the acting are the most original ever seen, that makes the movie amazing, and you can’t avoid crying because is very emotional and treats subjects like death, love, and passion. The most distinguished element of the movie is Brad Pitt acting, because he makes you believe he’s really a person who doesn’t know anything about life, and the way he looks other people, his faces and the way he talks are surprisingly natural and expressive.

I can’t stop watching ‘Meet Joe Black’ because it’s a great story, the actors and the music are amazing, and its sensibility and the feelings that make me feel are indescribable. The movie is gripping all the time and I recommend it for those who love strong emotions.

The Lovely Bones

Film: The Lovely Bones
Genre: Drama and suspens
Director: Peter Jackson
Actors: Saorse Ronon, Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg and George Harvey
Review:
The Lovely Bones (2009) is a film, which is an adaptation of the novel Lovely bones, which was written by Alice Sebold. The film was directed by Peter Jackson. The stars of the movie are Saorse Ronon as Susie Salmon, Rachel Weisz and Mark Wahlberg as Susie´s parents and George Harvey as the murderer. It is a drama and suspense film.

Susie Salmon is a teenager, who has crush on a classmate of her school. When he asked her out for Saturday, she accepted and went to her house. While she was walking, she found with her neighbor, who
coaxes her into an underground den, where he, finally, killed her. The police and her family started to investigate Susie's disappearance. Susie from the heaven guides them to find the guilty.

The movie´s story was written by Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. They did it great. They mixed the suspens and the drama in the story, they get that people were sad for moments, like when susie´s father cry for her dead, and have scared in other, like when her sister could be caught by the murder.

The movie has very good performances, specially, Saorse Ronon´s acting. In spite of Saorse is a very young actress, she could make an excellent and believable performance as the protagonist of the movie. Ronon won a lot of awards for her acting, like 7th Irish Film and Television Awards, 36th Saturn Awards and 2009 Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards.

Lovely Bones is an excellent movie, I loved the mix of suspend and drama in it so I recommend this film to people, who love drama films, or if you want to be scared and be moved.

About a boy

Book/ Film: About a boy
Genre: Drama
Author/ Director: The brothers Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz.
Characters/ Actors: Hugh Grant, Nicholas Hoult and Toni Colette.
“About a boy” is a beautiful movie that is adapted from the Nick Hornby's best-selling novel also called “About a boy”. It tells the powerful story of a young, rich, jobless man named Will Lightman (played by Hugh Grant) who meets a lonely boy named Marcus Brewer (played by Nicholas Hoult). We can appreciate nice scenarys from London and the tipical English accents.

Will has never faced any responsibility and he behaves like a boy despite being 30 years old. He meets Marcus in a very hard moment for him, his own mother has just tried to commit suicide. No matter what, Marcus tries to make her happy and keep her alive. Will’ll become essential in Marcus’ life and will end up being part of his family. Curiously, Marcus will teach Will more values than he has never known before.

This wonderful movie counts with an exceptional cast. Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hoult have an undeniable chemistry that makes us forget they’re acting and we believe everything we’re watching.

The background music plays a very important role.Playing both old and modern songs, the movie is perfectly accompanied by great soundtracks. “Shake Ya Ass" performed by Mystikal, takes part of an hilarious scene which could’t have been made without it.

I recommend this movie to any cine buff or just anyone who enjoys watching good performances. The excepcional plot won’t let you down and I can assure you that you will enjoy it from the very beginning to the end.
